Persistent Erections (Priapism)

Many‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ men use aphrodisiac medications to boost their sexual abilities and solve erection problems. Such medicines may deliver a positive result for a short period of time but, if a person excessively uses them for a long time, the health may be at risk. Knowing the risks is necessary for people who are thinking of taking, or are already taking, aphrodisiac drugs.

Risk of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Complications

Aphrodisiac drugs are usually associated with the enhanced blood circulation. Their long-term use can overload the heart and blood vessels, therefore, increasing the risk of arrhythmia, hypertension, cardiac infarction, and even stroke. These risks are greatly amplified by the presence of underlying diseases of the cardiovascular system.

Dangerous Drops in Blood Pressure

On the one hand, if cardiological patients take medicines for their ailment together with aphrodisiac drugs, it can provoke a very sharp and dangerous BP lowering. The general condition may deteriorate because of this reaction, and severe cases of such an event may end with death results.

Potential for Drug Interactions

The use of aphrodisiac drugs can complicate that of other medicines, especially those prescribed for heart diseases. The interactions of these drugs may result in certain very unpleasant symptoms, or the indispensable medicines’ effectiveness might decrease.

Psychological and Physical Dependence

Dependence on these drugs may result in a person’s psychological state, where he/she believes that he/she is unable to carry out any sexual activity without the intervention of the drug. This, in turn, lowers one’s self-esteem and progress anxiety, stress, or sexual dysfunction in the intimate relationship.

Other Side Effects

Long usage or excessive offensiveness may provoke headaches, dizziness, digestion disorder, and allergic reactions in the account of that individual. Some products—particularly those that are not prescribed by a doctor—may contain potentially dangerous, hidden substances or pollutants, thus unhealthy risings may be aggravated further.

Safe Use: Precautions to Follow

  • Time dosing carefully: Take aphrodisiac drugs on an empty stomach or two hours after a meal for better effectiveness.
  • Keep diet light and alcohol-free: Do not eat spicy foods, smoke, or drink alcohol before or after taking these drugs, since they may reduce the potency or increase the side effects.
  • Not to be matched with heart medication: Diazepam should not be taken within 24 hours both with the cardiac glycosides and with the aphrodisiacs.
  • In any case, talk to a doctor: Taking drugs on your own may be harmful to your health. When problems of sexual function or satisfaction continue, get professional advice to work out the real reasons and get suitable therapy.

Conclusion

The use of aphrodisiac drugs may temporarily resolve problems with erections, but it holds several important health risks if taken excessively and without medical supervision. A quick solution to sexual health problems may cause lasting damage, heart problems, addiction to psychological dependence, and dangerous interactions with other pharmacological drugs. The most prudent decision is to take the medication under the supervision of a doctor only. Don’t self-medicate but rather consult your healthcare professional to discuss any concerns you may ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌have.
